About Amanda

Amanda Bellerose

For me, photography has never been merely a craft, it is a language. One I began learning in my teens and still speak today with the same passion, undimmed.

To photograph, for me, is to make eternal what my soul sees in the wonderful, precious moments of our lives.

To capture those moments I draw on the books I’ve read, the music I’ve heard, the films I’ve watched, the art that settles into who we are. I bring to every session, in other words, everything that shaped me.

For me, the final result is never just sessions or photos: my aim is always to turn that instant into a story, into a memory that will cross generations.

The Beginnings

A history graduate, I went on to study photographic technique and then completed a specialization in photography in Recife. Over the years I’ve shaped my eye through projects as varied as weddings, family portraits, and advertising, editorials, and music photography. But what has always drawn me is the human, the fraction of a second in which a person reveals themselves. True emotion, unstaged.

This through line led me beyond the studio: in Brazil, I taught photography in underserved communities, convinced that the image is a tool of empowerment as much as an art. I contributed to social projects, always with my camera as both witness and tool.

Now

Based in Québec City, I bring a sensibility shaped by two continents, three languages, and over twenty years of photographed stories. Whether it’s a corporate portrait, a family session, or an artistic project, I bring the same intention: that of someone who genuinely wants to see you.
